Project Details:
Background
Known as the “Home of sport,” Pullman on the Park is located opposite the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), making it the ideal hotel for host teams and visitors attending Melbourne’s major sporting and cultural events throughout the year.
In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Accor seized the opportunity to undertake retrofit renovations at the hotel. The scope involved 420 hotel rooms, the Hotel Penthouse, Executive Lounge, Meeting Rooms, and the Buffet VIP Area on level 18. Recognizing the importance of lighting in enhancing guest experiences, Automated, renowned for their industry excellence, was selected to devise solutions for this comprehensive renovation.
The Solution:
The Pullman Hotel desired bespoke solutions that would utilize the existing mechanical air conditioning systems while incorporating updated high-end products to align the rooms accordingly. Additionally, Accor expressed concerns regarding the readability of custom labels at night, aiming to ensure visitor convenience and comfort. The Interact Hospitality solution, a part of Philips Dynalite’s hospitality product suite, proved to be the perfect fit for Pullman Hotel.
Notable features of the project:
Stylish custom Philips Antumbra button and display user interface solutions that befit a 5-star hotel overlooking the iconic MCG Stadium.
Energy-efficient products, including CorePro LED Lamps and Luminous Textile Panels, enhanced the lighting and mood in the rooms.
Backlighting was designed to be bright during the day and dimmed at night, prioritizing user-friendly navigation without disturbing sleep.
Custom panel symbols, meticulously engraved for hotel rooms, bathrooms, foyers, and public areas, ensured readability at night.
Remote serviceability through the Signify Interact Hospitality software allowing for prompt support and monthly reports for the hotel.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, such as delayed product deliveries, staff lockdowns, state border closures, and logistical hurdles, the opportunity was embraced. The result was nothing short of amazing, earning the hotel numerous hospitality awards for customer satisfaction and aesthetic ingenuity, including the prestigious “Hotel of the Year (Refurbishment)” accolade at the 2022 Australasia Pacific Hotel Design Awards.
